Paul Parkinson has been named as the new chairman of the leasing broker committee at the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA).

The Synergy Car Leasing CEO has been a member of the committee since 2015 and was appointed vice-chairman last year.

He said: “I’m delighted to take on the role of chairman of the leasing broker committee. I will work to ensure that through our shared voice and learning, as well as sector policy developments, our broker members continue to benefit from the work of the committee and the wider BVRLA.

“I am committed to further developing member engagement, as this sector is very well positioned to capitalise on the growth in online sales based on the flexibility of choice that comes with leasing and the high levels of professionalism shown in the sector.”

As part of his new responsibilities, Parkinson chaired the BVRLA recent Leasing Broker Conference, in London.

Vehicle leasing brokers across a section of both large and small organisations, as well as the major finance providers for the sector, make up the committee members.

The remit of the committee is to drive up industry standards by sharing best practice, and its recent successes include the roll out of online training programmes and its broker audits, focusing on financial compliance.

Outgoing chairman, Alan Carreras said: “It has been a pleasure to work so closely with Paul over the last year, and I know that Paul will champion the interests of BVRLA members, as well as the customer, in his role as chairman, and will continue to drive the sector forward.”
