UHY Hacker Young’s Manchester-based automotive team has been awarded motor trade and transport advisory team of the year by the 2017 Corporate LiveWire Finance Awards.

David Kendrick, head of national automotive at UHY Hacker Young, said: “The recognition is a great achievement for UHY’s automotive team, which had an exceptionally busy year in 2016 having been involved in 33% of announced deals in the sector.

“The team’s standout transaction was their advice to the shareholders of Warwick Holdings Limited (trading as Drayton Group) on the sale of its business to Lookers, for £55.4 million in cash.”

Other notable transactions included Vertu Motors’ acquisition of Gordon Lamb for £18.7m and the sale of Perrys’ Land Rover and Jaguar dealerships to the Rybrook Group for an undisclosed amount.

Fellow partner, Paul Daly, and Kendrick run the national automotive team from Manchester, and it has more than 40 years’ experience in the retail motor industry.

The Corporate LiveWire Finance Awards program selects winners based on their achievements and strengths in financial services, tax and accountancy sectors over the last 12 months.
