Review

Vauxhall has released further details of the limted edition race-pedigree Astra Coupe, the '888', as it debuts at the Scottish motor show.

A maximum of 100 will be built at the home of Vauxhall's BTCC race team, Triple Eight Race Engineering, with the frsit crs due to go on sale in mid-December, priced £20,995 OTR.

While it is powered by the same engine as the Astra Coupe Turbo, the 2.0 16v turbo, there have been a number of chassis and design changes. The '888' chassis has been lowered and sites on Eibach springs and dampers. It comes with 17-inch alloys with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The interior changes include the fitting of Sparco front sports seats, with the alloy handbrake and gear knob, pedals and footrest have unique '888' designs.

The '888' exterior bodykit comprises a front bumper splitter, rear wing and wheelarch extensions to mirror those on the BTCC race car. All '888''s are finished in Europa Blue paint.
