Renault's new Clio is to be launched in June, featuring the company's new 'family' look as well as heightened equipment levels which it claims will 'revolutionise' the supermini sector.

The car has a newly-designed dashboard to incorporate the optional automatic climate control system and Carminat satellite navigation console and screen, as well as featuring new switchgear and steering wheel designs.

The New Clio's front reflects the look first seen on the Vel Satis unveiled at the Geneva motor show. It has new twin-element headlamps, with high mounted indicators.

Additional safety features include two-stage driver and passenger airbags, together with pretensioner seatbelts and load limiters for the front seats.

The car will be available with a choice of five petrol and two diesel engines, the newest being the 1.5dCi common rail diesel, with 65bhp and 80bhp outputs and 65.7mpg and 67.3mpg fuel consumption rates.

The petrol version available are the 60bhp 1.2 8v, 75bhp 1.2 16v, 98bhp 1.4 16v, 110bhp 1.6 16v and 172bhp 2.0 16v, reserved for the Clio Renaultsport 172.

Prices will be announced later.
