MG Rover plans to expand the MG brand in 2001 from a single model to a complete range of roadsters and saloon cars has started with the launch of two additions to the MGF stable.

The MGF range will now include a higher performance 1.8 engine derivative and a new 1.6 entry model, priced below £16,000.

The MGF Trophy 160 is a special edition version of the 1.8VVC, producing 160PS. It also has larger disc brakes and calipers, new 16-inch, alloy wheels, uprated and lowered suspension, rear and front end spoilers and new colours.
