Only one in four professional people feel sufficiently attached to their organisation to turn down another job if offered higher pay.

This was revealed in research by Dr John Knell, head of research and deputy director of futures at the Industrial Society, keynote speaker at the first Automotive Management People Fair.

It will be held at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire, (close to M40 junction 12) on November 16. Dr Knell, whose report is entitled The quiet birth of the free worker, said: “The findings have uncanny parallels in the retail motor industry where the bread winners – like sales executives and technicians – seem to know their value.”

Tony Willard, Automotive Management editor, said: “We decided to stage the event because it is so important to understand evolving issues in the recruitment and training sectors.”
