Paint manufacturer Standox, part of the DuPont-owned Herberts division, is following the e-commerce trend with the launch of electronic trading facilities for its bodyshop customers.

Plans being considered would allow bodyshops to order Standox materials over the internet, with delivery and billing processed in the usual way by the local Standox distributor. The company already has colour formulations, data sheets and training presentations available online.

Neil Marcus, Standox general manager, said: “The future possibility of automatic re-ordering for bodyshops that use the advanced IT paintshop management systems would mean that as soon as paint stocks fall below pre-set levels, an order would automatically be prepared and transmitted down the line.”
