Following its successful introduction at MasterFit Centres in January 2000, Vauxhall is extending its MasterCover MoT insurance scheme to all dealers from April 2.

Two levels of cover are available. MasterCover is priced at £25 and covers around two thirds of items commonly responsible for an MoT failure. These include lights, steering and brakes.

MasterCover Plus extends this list to include petrol/diesel emissions, catalytic exhaust systems and mountings. Priced at £50, the extended scheme covers items responsible for up to 85 per cent of MoT failures.

To be valid, customers must take out the policy at least three months before their MoT is due and all Vauxhalls up to 10 years old or having covered up to 100,000 miles that have been regularly serviced are eligible. There is a limit of £750 on individual claims including parts, labour and VAT and items not covered include glass and tyres.
