Land Rover basks in April sales

Land Rover sales in April increased 46% year-on-year and so far in 2001 sales are up 9% on the previous year.

It now has a 31.5% share of the off-road sector. Mike Wright, Land Rover UK managing director, said: “This is attributed to the increasing sales of the Freelander, at 1,576 in April. The class-leading Freelander TD4 five-door station wagon was a particularly good seller.”

The Discovery TD5 took 36% market share, year-to-date. Range Rover sales were also up 41% in April with the 4.6-litre Vigue the best seller.
