Mitsubishi Motors UK has achieved its best ever quarterly result, breaking the 10,000 sales barrier for the first time in the history of the company.

10,532 vehicles were sold between July 1 and September 30, bringing total sales year to date to 29,082 units.

Bucking the trend of the market, which was up only 0.3% and actually down 2% for the month, Mitsubishi Motors UK posted a year-to-date sales increase of 14% and an 18% increase compared to September 2003.

Sales have continued strongly across the range throughout 2004 particularly Mitsubishi’s core 4x4 vehicles such as Shogun, up 28% on last year with 4,978 sales. Shogun Sport continues its run, up 131% on the year with 3,375 sales and 161% on the month with 816 registrations in September.

Launched on July 1 this year Mitsubishi’s new MPV, Grandis, has taken 17% of the petrol MPV segment.

Mitsubishi Motors says it “will easily smash 2003’s record result” and is expected to post a fourth successive year of 20% growth.
