Springfield Honda’s Stoddart Street Newcastle dealership is being split in to two new outlets.

The two sites will be situated on the east and west sides of the city.

In February the company will establish itself in Queen Alexandra Road, North Shields and two months later, trading will commence from Scotswood Road in a £3 million deal involving Honda UK.

Managing director David Lewins says: “The North Shields site will significantly extend our reach in the area, bringing us closer to existing customers and making us much more accessible.

Scotswood Road, currently a Reg Vardy Jaguar franchise, is a prime site in an area enjoying major investment, particularly by the motor trade and I am convinced it will further enhance our business and reputation.”

The Springfield Group began in Sunderland in 1989 with 12 staff and now employs just under 350 at eight dealerships and the PDI centre and body shop in Washington.

In addition to the four Honda outlets there are two selling Citroen, one Peugeot and one Suzuki.
