Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its A 200 Turbo, the most powerful variant in the class.

Three and five-door variants are available, costing £20,695 and £21,295 respectively.

The new car features a turbocharged 2,035cc four-cylinder engine, developing 193bhp and top speed of 141mph. The car reaches 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds. A six-speed manual gearbox is available as standard. Customers can choose to have Autotronic transmission as an added option.

Standard exterior specification includes 18-inch 7Jx18 five-spoke alloy wheels, 215/40 ZR18 tyres; matte silver radiator grille and two stainless steel tailpipes. The car sits on lowered sports suspension.

Standard interior specification includes Artico trimmed sports front seats and the gear lever is topped with aluminium. The instrument cluster is backed with silver, and the three-spoke steering wheel has thicker padding and a part-perforated leather grip. The foot pedals are stainless steel with rubber studs.

As with every Mercedes-Benz, the A 200 Turbo has front and head-thorax side impact air bags as standard. The disc brakes are fitted with ABS and brake-assist. ESP, AST and tryre pressure warning systems are also included.

Inside, each of the five seats has a three-point seatbelt with the four outer occupants’ having pre-tensioners. ISOFIX seat mounting points with top tethers are also standard in the rear. The A-class has a five star Euro NCAP safety rating.

The A 200 Turbo has a three-year unlimited mileage warranty, ASSYST variable service intervals and MobiloLife package. MobiloLife offers a breakdown warranty and anti-corrosion cover for up to 30 years.
