Ford’s Southampton assembly line has delivered its five millionth Transit, a white minibus.

The landmark vehicle has been donated to the Lord Taverners charity, an organization that aims to give young people opportunities to participate in sport. Last year, the all-British Transit production reached a record level of 70,674 units, 50% of which were exported.

Its engines are manufactured in Dagenham, Essex and transmissions in Halewood, Merseyside. Scores of Transits recently took part in a 40th anniversary commemorative run.
