Two new Mitsubishi concepts are making their world debut at the Detroit Motor Show, which started on Sunday.

The Eclipse Spyder (above) is the new fourth generation Eclipse coupe, which was introduced into the US market last year. It comes in two trim levels, the GT 3.8-litre V6 and the GS 2.4-litre.

The Concept-CT MIEV is what Mitsubishi calls a ‘new kind of sports compact’. It uses the same rear layout as the ‘i minicar’ and was inspired by large scooters. The car is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder MIVEC hybrid engine.

The Concept-CT has no centre pillars. The instrument panel incorporates a new ‘wide-format’ screen system which stretches the display screen from driver’s seat to passenger. It displays the speedometer, fuel readings, on-board navigation, climate control and entertainment functions.

There are currently no plans for these models to come to the UK.
