Toyota has launched its third generation RAV4, which is priced from £18,995 on-the-road.

The new RAV4 is longer and wider than its predecessor and includes Toyota’s ‘easy flat’ seat folding system.

Three engines will be available in the new RAV4 including a 2.0-litre VVT-i petrol and a new-to-the-range 2.2-litre D-4D 140 and 180 diesel engine.

All models come with nine airbags, including driver’s knee airbag. The new RAV4 achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating for occupant protection.

Toyota’s ‘active torque control 4WD’ system is included, which automatically transfers torque between the front and rear wheels for optimum grip. The RAV is also the first in its segment to have an ’integrated active drive’ system on XT4 grade and higher. This system combines and co-ordinates the active torque control 4WD, the vehicle stability control plus (VSC+) and electric power steering (EPS) to help bring the vehicle under control in the event of a skid or slide.

Further driving aids include hill-start assist control and, on models with automatic transmission, downhill assist control, which automatically applies braking pressure on steep descents without the wheels locking.

There are four trim levels (XT3, XT4, XT5 and T180) which all feature alloy wheels, air conditioning, sound system with CD player and MP3/WMA compatibility, easy flat folding rear seat system and remote central double locking as standard.

The flagship T180 equipped comes with run-flat tyres and tyre pressure warning system. Pricing and insurance groups are given in the table below.
