“Traditional fixed site car auctions will be around for many years, however, the internet will take an increasing share of the auction business having grown 10 fold in the past five years.

"To say that that internet auctions will never replace the auction hall is burying your head in the sand.

"Traditional car auctions already use an element of internet techniques within their selling mix and as these systems become more sophisticated it will become increasingly difficult for them to compete.

"Some companies are using consumer websites to re-market ex fleet and lease cars and we don't believe that this is wise. Dealing directly via an internet auction with the general public does bring with it a number of challenges and problems. Far better we believe to use the internet disposal route via an organisation with motor trade experience and in-depth technical internet competence.

“The re-marketing industry cannot stand in the way of progress. The internet has transformed many industries and the way they buy and sell and this is what will happen in the vehicle re-marketing business delivering a more consistent, faster and more cost effective method of selling ex lease and fleet vehicles.”
