Specializing in Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) testing and servicing for cars imported from the USA has built a good business for Ian Goss.

Goss previously worked at American Carriage Company, a major grey-import business, where he managed its service department. He formed his own company, Ian Goss Services, 14 months ago with his son and another technician.

Now the business, near Surbiton, is averaging three SVA tests a week plus “a steady flow” of servicing and repairs for clients who travel from as far as Lancashire. Since opening, it has prepared 36 imported Ford GTs, plus Corvettes, Hummers and Mustangs.

“I don’t advertise the business at all. I’ve just built up a rapport with my customers over the years,” says Goss. “It’s a specialized market. We tend to concentrate on the top of the market cars.

“It has been a very good year for us.”
