2007 is set to see a rise in the number of mobile tyre fitters as the concerns in the fleet industry mount about duty of care and health and safety issues.

During 2006, Kwik-Fit Fleet saw business increase by 15% and Mike Wise, head of the fleet division at the group believes it is due to the increasing corporate focus on occupational road risk.

He believes this is set to increase further this year, adding: "Duty of care will remain at the top of fleet agendas in 2007 and we expect to see that translate into an increasing number of organisations turning to mobile tyre health checks on vehicles.

"Additionally, that same health and safety focus will be reflected in our centres undertaking more brake inspection and replacement work."

Kwik-Fit Fleet is planning to expand this year to cope with demand with new centres and mobile services planned for the UK and Europe.

Wise added: "In 2007 we will continue to develop the centre network and mobile services with acquisitions very much on the agenda to broaden our offering in Britain and abroad."
