Nissan is amending “misleading” advice given to a customer during a warranty wrangle, after intervention by the Automotive Distribution Federation.

The ADF intervened in a dispute between a Nissan Micra owner and the car brand. Nissan had written to the motorist stating the Micra’s warranty was invalid because non-Nissan OE parts had been used during a routine service.

ADF chief executive Brian Spratt contacted Nissan to point out that under Block Exemption matching quality parts may be used without invalidating a vehicle’s warranty, providing the servicing has been carried out to the vehicle manufacturer’s schedule and procedures.

Nissan subsequently wrote to the owner to admit its mistake, and told the ADF: “We will take care in the future with the information we are submitting to our customers”.
