In a recent mobile phone promotion consumers were offered a free quad bike.

The entrepreneur customer tried to sell the bike on Ebay but then found out that they breached trade mark legislation.

Furthermore, when Trading Standards Officers visited a warehouse in Daventry from where the bikes came, the bikes failed Health and Safety requirements under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992.

Essentially the quad bikes were very poorly constructed.

The supplying company Shebang Distribution Ltd was fined £4,000 and ordered to pay costs of £6,099.

The managing director of the company was fined £3,000.
