The Hughes Motor Retail Group has acquired Haymill Mazda and Saab for an undisclosed sum.

Hughes already operates a fully authorised Mazda aftersales facility in Amersham and, before relinquishing the sales franchise to Haymill in 2004, had represented Mazda in Beaconsfield since 1992.

Haymill Mazda and Saab will join Hughes’ dealership portfolio which includes Mercedes-Benz, Saab, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Smart from outlets in Beaconsfield, Aylesbury, Amersham and Farnham Common.

Geoff Williams, managing director of Hughes, said: “We are determined that as a privately-owned, locally-based company, we maintain our personal relationships with both customers and staff alike to ensure that we continue our ‘family’ business traditions and stay ahead of the competition.

“I can therefore assure all Haymill customers that it will be ‘business as usual’ under the new ownership with many of the same familiar faces, including general manager Martin Corp who has chosen to remain with the business.”

But while Hughes will continue to operate Haymill Mazda and Saab much as before, one change that is planned is to rename the outlet ‘Hughes Mazda’ and 'Hughes Saab' in line with all the other franchises in the Hughes Group.

This will take place shortly with the site receiving new signage.
