Imperial Commercials has begun construction of its new £1.6m dealership on the Commerce Park site in Frome.

The two-acre site has room for 24 trucks in its car park, with 10,200 sq ft of indoor floor space.

Facilities will include an open-plan showroom, seven 20-metre workshop bays, a VDO tachograph centre, MoT testing, valeting area and parts warehouse.

Imperial will sell Fiat vans and continue to supply DAF trucks on the new site, while its workshop will provide servicing for all makes of commercial vehicle with extended opening hours for added customer convenience.

David Lewis, Imperial’s regional director, said: “We have a very strong customer base in the area, but this substantial investment in new facilities will enable us to provide an even better service while giving us the opportunity to reach out to new customers.”

The company, which was acquired by the South African Imperial Holdings Group last year, has 24 UK dealerships and franchise partnerships with DAF, Hino, Isuzu, MAN ERF, Renault Trucks, LDV and Fiat Vans. Lewis expects a 20% first-year turnover increase compared to the existing branches.
