More than one in eight Nissan Motor GB light commercial vehicles will be sold through a group of Volvo truck and bus centres in a full year following an agreement between the two companies.

Nissan’s existing CV dealers sell mainly to local businesses and small fleets.

The company believes there is scope for growth by targeting Volvo’s heavy commercial vehicle customers and prospective buyers.

Eight Volvo sites – in Glasgow, Washington, Darlington, Coventry, Milton Keynes, Hayes, Enfield and Avonmouth – will be rebranded as Nissan Volvo Truck Dealers.

Mark Lovett, Nissan GB’s LCV sales and marketing manager, said the eight sites now formally become part of the Nissan commercial vehicle dealer network.

Once preparations have been completed, they will be eligible to sell and carry out service, repair and warranty work on Nissan’s Interstar and Cabstar models.

Lovett said the dealer appointments are a critical part of Nissan’s plans to significantly increase its Interstar and Cabstar sales volumes by 2010.

“In a full year, after all the Volvo sites are fully established, they will account for about 40% of our Interstar and Cabstar volume,” he said.

“That’s around 15% of our total LCV volume.

“We have no plans for similar agreements with other manufacturers.”
