NAC MG UK has committed to starting construction of its TF LE500 sportscar at Longbridge at the beginning of August.

The 50 UK dealers NAC MG UK has appointed have been waiting for cars since last September, but are now expected to see the first models a year on, this September.

The Chinese manufacturer has also appointed a new chairman to lead its UK operations. He Xiao Qing, takes over as head of the company from Wang Hong Biao, who had led the board of the Longbridge based company since it was set up in 2005.

Qing said: "I am delighted to be in a position to talk about a launch date for the TF LE500 following a process of planning, re-organisation, active quality improvements and parts optimisation.

"We recognise delays have resulted in frustration for our stakeholders. We are now fully focussed on bringing our hard work to fruition."

NAC MG UK has also confirmed that while it is focusing on the construction of the TF, it is also planning to bring more MG models to roll off the production line.
