Land Rover's assembly plant at Solihull will cut production by one day a week due to slowing sales.

The company said it will now make Range Rover and Discovery models on four days a week only, from Monday to Thursday.

Some night shifts for the Range Rover line will be suspended from October.

Staff will undergo training during on Fridays, there will be no redundancies from the changes, expected to reduce a "very small" percentage of annual production.

Land Rover's key markets in the USA and UK are having a tough time, but developing markets such as China, Brazil, the Middle East and North Africa are still achieving strong sales.
