A UK franchised dealer has launched its own promotion replicating the 2009 scrappage scheme.

Randles, which represents Peugeot and Suzuki in Staffordshire, is promising a £2,000 'scrappage allowance' for anyone bringing in a vehicle, regardless of age or mileage, to part-exchange for a new car.

Peter Watts, Randles' operations director, told local newspaper The Sentinel: "The directors of the business have boldly taken the decision in re-launching the tremendously successful £2,000 scrappage scheme which was initially a government backed plan.

"This was an extremely effective campaign when it was introduced and we decided to continue this offer without Government support.

"We knew our customers would benefit massively with this campaign enabling them to afford a new car utilising their part exchange and also using our excellent financing facilities."

The business is also hosting a ladies night next week to raise funds for a local children's hospice.
