Chevrolet UK has appointed Brian Hawkins to the role of retail network development manager, responsible for developing the Chevrolet brand across the UK as it looks to secure a 1% market share.

Hawkins has worked for the past two years as a freelance automotive consultant, with clients including Infiniti Europe, CAT, Husqvarna and BMW.

Prior to that he worked in dealer development roles with Fiat, Chrysler Jeep and DaimlerChrysler UK.

He will be tasked with “refreshing and redeveloping” the dealer network in the UK. Chevrolet is looking to create more focussed "Chevrolet brand experience" in the showroom.

Dealers that are performing well, but don't have space to fit the brand's nine vehicle model range will be lloking to move or expand existing premises. There will be manufacturer support, but Chevrolet would not detail how much.

Dealers will be expected to upgrade fixtures and fittings, but "changes will not be invasive".

Chevrolet has just reassembled its dealer network of 92 sites in the UK after issuing new contracts, with poor performers shown the door.

Hawkins said: "My focus is to get the Chevrolet dealer network in great shape, and to deliver a great brand experience to new and potential dealers. My aim is also to develop the existing network and help them drive great results."
