Kia has previewed its Pro_Cee’d GT ahead of the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The new model, along with the Cee’d GT will be the most performance-focused production cars from the brand and will also be the first launched under the guidance of Peter Schreyer as president.

It is highly likely a rear-wheel drive coupe will join Kia's line-up in the future to boost its sports model portfolio.

The new model features LED daytime running lights, dual-exhaust pipes, Recaro seating, 18-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers.

The new turbocharged 1.6-litre GDI petrol engine will produce 201bhp and 265 Nm (195lb/ft), powering the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and allowing acceleration from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds.

Pro_Cee’d GT production is due to start at Kia’s Slovakian plant in the middle of May with UK sales starting in the summer. The Cee’d GT will go on sale in the UK towards the end of the year.

Prices and specifications will be confirmed closer to the on-sale dates.
