Blue Bell BMW in Wilmslow and Crewe hosted a 'spectacular' event for the launch of the new BMW X5 at Somerford Park Farm with a thrilling off-road test drive experience.

The event last Saturday included off-road driving, an elite equestrian showcase, on-road test drives and warming refreshments.

The course comprising of approximately three miles of twisting mud and sand track, took in multiple water splashes and some challenging climbs and descents, which the new BMW X5 tackled on standard road tyres.

"The venue is terrific, just what we were looking for to let our customers really get a feel for what the car can do," said Andrew Crowe, dealer principal of Blue Bell Wilmslow.

Guests were invited to test drive other cars from the X range as well as the Mini All4 Countryman. Road tests were also available in the new BMW 4 Series Coupe that launched last month.

Andrew Heffernan, the Olympic event rider based at Somerford and sponsored by Blue Bell, spoke to the spectators gathered at the water complex about the basics of eventing, what he looks for in his horses and then performed an impressive demonstration.

Cloudside Tweed, Hope Valley Equestrian and Bang & Olufsen brought displays of their clothing, gifts and accessories for customers to browse.

Barry Holt, dealer principal of Blue Bell Crewe said, “We are delighted with how well the day went and how well the cars performed. Customers were extremely impressed with the hill descent function and how controlled the car was, without even having to touch the brake pedal. We have had a lot of positive comments back from our customers, some of whom have asked us when the next event will be – so watch this space.”
