Ford has launched a range topping Fiesta ST3 following demand for a higher series model from customers.

Ford has sold 6,250 units of the Fiesta ST since the latest version went on sale a year ago, a 20% increase on the brand’s original forecast. The previous highest spec ST-2 took 90% of sales.

The new model builds on the specification of the ST-2 by adding keyless entry, Sony DAB radio with satellite navigation, cruise control, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear view mirror, power-fold door mirrors and electric automatic temperature control. Rear parking sensors are an optional extra at £250.

The ST3 is priced at £19,250 and comes with a 1.6-litre EcoBoost 180bhp engine with six-speed manual transmission. The Fiestas ST3 reaches 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds and will go on to a top speed of 139mph. Fuel economy is 47.9mpg, with CO2 emissions of 138g/km.

Five exterior colours are available – Frozen White, Race Red, Panther Black, Spirit Blue and Molten Orange. They are matched to one of two interior colour themes, Molten Orange or Smoke Storm, depending on the paint finish chosen.
