Brayleys Cars has acquired Grovebury Kia Dunstable for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition takes the number of franchised dealerships across the Brayleys group to 18.

This further strengthens the dealer group’s relationship with the marque, adding to its current Kia dealership network in Enfield, Harpenden, and Oxford.

Brayleys represents Kia, Honda, Mazda, Renault and Dacia across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Surrey, North & South London, Essex, Kent and Oxfordshire.

Managing Director Paul Brayley said"The team at Grovebury Cars are hugely experienced and the business is renowned for delivering outstanding customer service.  Its values are closely aligned to our own which is why I am so excited to have such a talented team join our group.

“The business continues to grow and evolve organically, almost doubling in size over the last four years.”

Brayleys, which is majority owned by Dubai-based international investors AW Rostamani, has experienced a strong trading performance, having grown its turnover from £157.8m in 2021 to £188.6m last year.

It was recently ranked as one of the UK’s best workplaces in the large workplace category by Great Place to Work.

The Grovebury acquisition was brokered by automotive consultancy MotorVise, which acted on behalf of former owners Martin and Jacqui Camplin. It has been involved in the sale of all three of their dealerships.

MotorVise, which recently reported a three-fold increase in its M&A advisory activity since the start of the pandemic, is currently working with several dealership groups and independents to prepare their businesses for sale.

Fraser Brown, founder and managing director of MotorVise, added: “Since the pandemic, our specialist automotive business brokerage service has experienced a three-fold increase in demand as the trend towards the conglomeration of dealerships continues.”

The Camplins, who built Grovebury up over several years, decided to sell its three dealerships to invest and focus on alternative business interests.

Martin and Jacqui Camplin said: “It’s been a privilege to serve our customers at Grovebury Kia Dunstable and we look forward to pursuing other business ventures, safe in the knowledge that the future of the dealership is in good hands.”
