Crash repair firm Fix Auto has increased the number of company-owned bodyshops to two with the takeover of Ian Hughes Body Repair Centre in Colwyn Bay.

The majority of the UK Fix Auto bodyshop network are franchisees, however the brand has begun buying and operating some of its own sites.

Last summer it bought a majority share in existing franchisee Fix Auto Google, and since then it bought Daventry Panel Craft and rebranded that as Fix Auto Daventry.

Fix Auto UK managing director Ian Pugh said: "Establishing Fix Auto Colwyn Bay is the next development in our strategy to create scale in a mature market, either by organic growth with new franchisees, or via acquisition.

"We are now in the process of rebranding the repair centre and investing in the latest equipment to maximise efficiency. Once this is complete, the site will officially become Fix Auto Colwyn Bay."

Fix Auto is a Canada-based accident repair group which entered the UK last decade and recruited a network of more than 100 independent body repairers as franchisees.
