TV presenter Konnie Huq has become a brand ambassador for Mitsubishi Motors.

She picked up the keys to her new Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle from her local dealership, Humming Bird Mitsubishi in Finchley.

Huq (pictured) said: “There’s a preconceived notion that to be environmentally friendly and have an electric car you end up in small, weedy cars that you can only use as run-arounds but this car flies in the face of that.”

She has previously worked with campaign group Go Ultra Low, which exists to help motorists understand the benefits, cost savings and capabilities of the variety of new ultra-low emission vehicles on the market.

She said: ‘Having researched the market, I chose the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to review for a popular woman's magazine, and I was totally sold on it.

“It's easy to be sceptical because people think, what happens when you run out of battery charge and get stranded, or what if I can't find somewhere to charge up easily, but with the Outlander PHEV you don’t need to worry about that because you have the petrol engine as well.”
