Chery has announced pricing and full specifications for its first model to launch in Britain, the Tiggo 8, with the large seven-seat SUV starting at £28,545 for the petrol version and £33,545 for the plug-in hybrid.
The Chinese brand - part of the automotive giant Chery International - unveiled the Tiggo 8 at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, ahead of its official entry into the UK market.
Available with a choice of conventional and electrified powertrains, and a generous level of standard equipment, the entry-level model uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 147PS, while the Super Hybrid version pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a dual-motor hybrid setup delivering 204PS and 365Nm of torque.
Chery claims the plug-in hybrid offers a total range of up to 745 miles, including 56 miles of electric-only driving, making it suitable for urban trips and longer journeys alike. The hybrid system supports regenerative braking, self-charging, and DC fast charging, ensuring ease of use without reliance on regular home charging.
Inside, the Tiggo 8 offers a 5+2 seating layout across three rows, aiming to provide flexible space for families. The cabin features a digital dual-screen cockpit, wireless smartphone integration, Sony 12-speaker audio, voice control, and a panoramic sunroof.
Comfort and safety tech come as standard, with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane centring, a cabin air filtration system, and customisable ambient lighting all included.
Every Tiggo 8 comes with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, underlining Chery’s intent to establish credibility in a competitive market.
Farrell Hsu, Chery UK’s country director, said: “The Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid is a perfect expression of what Chery stands for: smart technology, generous space and electrified efficiency without compromise. It’s designed to make people happy, knowing they’ve made the smart choice for their next SUV.”
The Tiggo 8 launch follows the UK arrival of Chery’s other marques, Jaecoo and Omoda.
