The collision between manufacturer aspirations and the dealer margin and cost pressure and its “horrific” effect on used car values and renewal business is highlighted in an AM video.

This alongside with the need to ensure tight stock control and the benefits of bringing digital marketing in-house are topics covered by senior executives filmed during the AM100 Dinner last night in London.

Five franchised dealer bosses give their views on the greatest challenges and opportunities for their businesses in the next 12 months, ahead of the unveiling of the AM100.

They are:

Peter Smyth, director, Swansway Group

Nigel McMinn, managing director, Lookers

Simon Bottomley, chairman and group managing director, Thurlow Nunn

Darren Ardron, managing director, Perrys Motor Sales and

John Clark, chairman and chief executive, John Clark Motor Group.

Joining them is Steve Nash, Institute of the Motor Industry chief executive and AM100 Dinner guest speaker and broadcaster Jeremy Vine, giving a consumer view.
