Pendragon is planning to expand its network of dealerships from 200 to 240 and is pushing ahead with its click-and-collect used car concept.

Trevor Finn, chief executive of the UK’s largest dealer group, spoke to Insider about his plans which include opening new dealerships in the South of England and a new Evans Halshaw Move Me Closer click and collect service for used cars in Peterborough.

Move Me Closer lets customers reserve a vehicle direct from their smartphone, tablet or PC and choose to have it physically delivered to their nearest Evans Halshaw location for their viewing, on payment of a refundable £200 reservation fee.

Through this service, consumers can research and view online over 20,000 vehicles then inspect the vehicle they reserved at a physical location convenient to them, back by Evans Halshaw's five day price guarantee.

Its launch follows Pendragon's roll out last year of its Evans Halshaw Sell Your Car initiative which guarantees to pay more than rival Webuyanycar to customers wishing to dispose of their current vehicle.

The Peterborough site will be the second click-and-collect location following the start of sales in Birmingham earlier this year. Pendragon is planning to add another site in Birmingham too.
