Vospers has officially opened the doors to its £15 million car retail super site, bringing together three sites and Ford, Mazda, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Fiat dealerships in one location in Exeter.

The 45,000 square-foot development is the largest development at Exeter’s Matford Green Business Park and is now welcoming customers following a 12-month build programme completed by Leeds-based car dealership developments specialist, APP Construction.

Bringing together three existing sites, the location features five brand showrooms, including commercial vehicle facilities, a dedicated used car centre and Premium car showroom.

The new site, made possible through a funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Bank, will also have benefits for the local community, with 200 staff employed and new opportunities available for skilled technicians and engineers, the group said in a statement.

Nick Vosper, managing director of Vospers, said: "This investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to Exeter and the local economy by creating a landmark facility with the potential to attract car buyers from across the region.

"We are bringing the ultimate car showroom experience to Exeter, providing customers with the best international brands, the highest quality of customer service and access to the very latest technology."

A two-story FordStore lies at the heart of the new Matford development, which also features space for Mazda, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Fiat franchises.

One of the benefits of bringing the brands together on a single site is the realisation of Vospers’ plan to centralise their aftersales functions in order to drive efficiency through the delivery of a new ‘Vospers Express Servicing’ concept, , ensuring a one-hour turnaround on services and MOTs.

The site features 28 servicing bays, equipped with a Hunter multi-check lane with the latest four-wheel alignment system, provided Pro-Align, allowing brakes, battery, tyre pressures and tread depths to be checked automatically when driving on to a ramp – rather than manually.

Vospers Express Servicing will be available seven days a week to every class of vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes, including mini buses and public service vehicles from four dedicated express bays.

Vospers’ service director, Neil Tickner, said: “Featuring the very latest equipment and processes, Vospers will be offering the highest quality and most efficient servicing available."
