The first new car sale through the Volvo Online platform has been made by Cambridge Garage in Havant.

The buyer was Matthew Blanksby, of nearby Gosport, who completed his purchase of a new Volvo V60 estate end-to-end through Volvo Online, having picked Cambridge Garage as his chosen Volvo retailer.

Volvo claims its system is the most comprehensive currently offered by any car brand in the UK. Customers can select a Volvo dealer, configure their car, including accessories, include their part-exchange, and purchase using PCP, conditional sale or cash.

“It’s quite a privilege to have helped Volvo’s first online customer. We are pleased that Matthew found the process so secure, easy and convenient, and wish him many happy years of motoring in his new V60,” said John-Michael Eastman, business manager at Cambridge Garage Havant.

Nicola Murphy, future retail manager at Volvo Car UK, said the online platform gives consumers an alternative way to buy a Volvo, with the flexibility of choosing how and when they wish to engage with a local dealership.

“Importantly, the retailer is on hand to help the customer at any point within the process, making the purchase even easier and more convenient for our customers,” said Murphy.

In April AM reported on the launch of Volvo Online, and how Volvo's UK dealers are the first in the world to use the online car sales platform.

Blanksby said the process to get his new V60 was easy and convenient. “Having noticed on the Volvo Car UK website that you could order online, I knew I had to go for it.

“Having the option to order cars online makes real sense, especially for busy people and shift-workers like myself.”
