A major redevelopment by Lloyd Motor Group has led to the creation of up to 20 new jobs, following the merger of its Kia and Volvo operations at its Levens site.

Over the past six months, the dealership group has relocated its Morecambe Kia branch to Levens, establishing a joint Kia and Volvo showroom and service centre.

The move to Levens, which was first reported by Automotive Management in 2022 after Lloyd took over the Kia franchise from Rayrigg Motors,  is part of a wider refurbishment project aimed at enhancing facilities and boosting local employment in South Cumbria and North Lancashire.

The move to Levens, which was first reported by Automotive Management in 2022 after Lloyd took over the Kia franchise from Rayrigg Motors,  is part of a wider refurbishment project aimed at enhancing facilities and boosting local employment in South Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Mark Smith, head of business at Lloyd South Lakes, said: “This has been an amazing few months for Lloyd South Lakes Kia & Volvo, seeing a complete redevelopment of the Levens site with a new building and full modernisation.

"With the expansion, staff numbers are expected to grow from just over 50 to more than 70.”

To support recruitment, Lloyd Motor Group will host an open evening at the Levens site on May 21, offering an opportunity for prospective candidates to explore available roles and apprenticeships.

“Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of experience,” said Smith. “This is a chance to learn more about the variety of career paths we offer.”

Job openings span several departments, including positions for workshop controllers, product specialists, sales and warranty administrators, valeters, and technicians - ranging from apprentice to master technician level.

Rob Lindsay, franchise director at Lloyd Motor Group, added: “What sets Lloyd Motor Group apart isn’t just our exceptional vehicles - it’s our people. The values we share drive everything we do, and we’re excited to welcome new team members during this exciting period of growth.”

This latest investment comes after the AM100 dealer group took on the BYD franchise for Blackpool.

Founded in 1976, Lloyd Motor Group operates across 32 locations in Northern England and Southern Scotland, employing over 1,400 people.

Earlier this year Lloyd Motor Group mourned the sudden death of its founder Brian Lloyd at the age of 68.
