Renault has unveiled the Alpine Vision sports car ahead of the premium brand’s arrival in the UK next year.

The show car was unveiled in Monte Carlo today and Renault officials hope that the production Alpine sports car will closely resemble the lightweight coupe, which is fitted with a four-cylinder, turbocharged engine and can accelerate to 62mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

A spokeswoman from the French manufacturer told AM that the new Alpine model would be sold in “a limited number” of franchised outlets when it arrives on UK shores next year.

Speaking at today’s unveiling, Groupe Renault Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said: “Earlier this month we announced our return to Formula One with a Renault team, and today we are announcing Alpine.

“This is an exciting next step in our strategy to leverage talent and technology between road and track, and we look forward to reaching new customers in the sport premium cars segment.”
