The Volvo V40 hatchback has been given a facelift to bring its appearance more in line with the new XC90 and S90.

New grille meshes are fitted, along with the 'Thor's Hammer' LED design that appears to be a signature of new Volvo vehicles.

The exterior update includes the addition of five colours including the new Amazon Blue and Denim Blue, as well as three colours already used by other models: Bursting Blue, Mussel Blue and Luminous Sand.

Volvo has also reduced CO2 emissions on its popular D2 manual powertrain to 89g/km, across all trim levels.

Nick Connor, managing director of Volvo Car UK, said: “The V40 is the best-selling Volvo model in the UK, making it a vital car for the company. With the updates for Model Year 2017, we’re making this already very successful model even more attractive to customers.”

Updates have been made to Volvo's On Call car connectivity app, as well as the introduction of an improved CleanZone air filtering system.
