Jeep has announced the pricing and specification of its Compass SUV ahead of its arrival in UK showrooms in February 2018.

Prices for the Compass, which slots into the range between the Renegade and Cherokee, will start at £22,995 for the 1.6 MultiJet 120 MTX in front-wheel-drive guise.

A statement issued by Jeep said that the new addition to the range would help it “tackle the important and growing compact SUV segment that is expected to grow by almost 20 percent to 7.5 million in 2020”.

In Europe alone, this segment amounts to more than 1.6 million and is expected to achieve more than two million units by 2020, it said.

The new Compass will be offered with a choice of two petrol and three diesel engines.

The petrol engine line-up includes a 140PS 1.4-litre MultiAir II Turbo available with front-wheel-drive and a 170PS 1.4-litre MultiAir II Turbo engine which can be provided in conjunction with all-wheel-drive.

The diesel engine range comprises a 1.6-litre MultiJet II option available with front-wheel-drive in 120PS guise and all-wheel-drive with 140PS.

A higher output version of the 2.0-litre MultiJet II – delivering 170 horsepower – completes the diesel offering.

Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk trim levels will be available from launch.

Among the Compass’s standard equipment are 16-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights, a leather steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, forward collision warning and 60/40 rear seat split.
