Mercedes-Benz UK has opened up order books for its new, fully-electric EQA SUV – with prices starting from £40,495 (inc. plug-in car grant).

Two trim levels are available from launch, EQA 250 Sport and EQA 250 AMG Line, with prices for the latter starting at £41,995 (inc. PiCG).

As reported by AM following the new Mercedes EQ model’s unveiling last month, the Lexus UX 300e rival claims to offer a zero-emissions range of 265 miles from its 66kWh battery in front-wheel-drive EQA 250 guise.

All-wheel-drive, longer range and AMG variants expected to be added to the line-up in due course.

Sales of the new model comes just over three months after the German premium brand revealed its plan to expand its range of EQ electric vehicles (EV) with six new model additions.

In EQA 250 guise, the new EV model serves up 190PS and 375Nm to deliver a claimed acceleration to 62mph time of 8.9 seconds.

The EQA’s 66.5 kWh battery and a 100 kW DC on-board charger, meanwhile, will allow it to charge from 10% to 80% in around 40 minutes, and from 10% to 100% in five hours and 45 minutes using an 11kW wall box.

Among the standard features on all EQA’s is the brand’s Navigation with Electric Intelligence system, which calculates the route that will get the driver to their destination fastest, taking into account charging times, and taking the stress out of route planning.

A three-year subscription to the Mercedes me Charge public charging service is also standard.

As standard on EQA 250 Sport models are: cruise control; reversing camera; LED High-performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist; electropneumatic four-way lumbar support for heated front seats; a leather sports steering wheel; automatic climate control; 18-inch alloys; Active Brake Assist; Active Lane Keeping Assist; Blind Spot Assist; and  an MBUX multimedia system with widescreen cockpit (two 10-inch digital displays with touchpad).

There is also ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours.

AMG Line trim adds: AMG Line bodystyling; 20-inch alloys; sports seats; door sills illuminated with ‘EQA’ lettering; galvanised shift paddles; aluminium trim; aluminium pedals with rubber studs and ‘AMG’ floor mats.

AMG Line customers will also have the option of speccing their vehicle with a Premium Package.

Priced at £3,000, it includes 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels; electrically-operated panoramic glass sunroof; Keyless-Go Comfort package; augmented reality navigation system; advanced sound system; and wireless charging for compatible smartphones.

Meanwhile, a £6,000 Premium Plus package further adds 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels; a 360-degree parking camera; electrically adjustable suspension with speed-sensitive steering; a Burmester sound system; electrically adjustable front seats with memory function; head-up display; and MBUX Interior Assistant with gesture control.
