MG Motor UK has named Patrick Klaus Beyer as its new head of digital, responsible for digital marketing across the brand.

He joins MG from Honda, where he was in charge of digital marketing across Europe from July 2018. Prior to that, he worked across several marketing roles for both Jaguar Land Rover and Toyota Motor Europe.

Beyer has extensive electric vehicle (EV) experience, having worked on electric and hybrid model launches for all three of his previous companies.

EVs form a key part of MG’s strategy and currently make up three of its six models in the UK – the MG ZS EV, all-new MG5 EV and MG HS Plug-in Hybrid.

A self-confessed petrolhead, Beyer says that he cannot wait to get started working for MG, which he sees as the most exciting car brand in the market right now.

He said: “The MG brand is growing and has huge potential. With good products, amazing EVs, a strong dealer network and an expanding marketing team, it’s a fascinating time to be part of its evolution and help grow the brand in UK.”

AM reported recently on how MG Motor UK’s growing franchised car retail network had continued to grow the brand’s new car registrations despite July’s vehicle supply and COVID-prompted sector headwinds.

MG recorded the UK new car markets' biggest volume growth in July, with registrations up 36.6% to 2,411 and grabbed an 8.9% share of the pure electric market, making it the third best-selling EV brand in the UK.
