Marcus Gossen has been appointed as the new UK director for Seat and Cupra.

Gossen succeeds Richard Harrison, who is taking a “career break” after having spent 16 years with Seat, leading the UK business for the last eight years. Harrison confirmed he would be stepping down from the business in July.

Harrison led Seat to a record market share of 3% in 2019 and helped establish the Cupra brand in the UK.

Gossen will join as UK direct on September 1 from his position as head of sales for Cupra and Seat in Europe South and West.

Gossen has worked across a variety of disciplines, including the role of managing director for MAN Truck & Bus in several locations worldwide.

Gossen said: “Both Seat and Cupra have seen massive change in recent years.

“The success is clear for all to see, particularly Cupra’s exponential growth.

“I am really looking forward to working even closer with the UK team as we accelerate that dramatic change further. It is an incredibly exciting time to lead these two brands.”

Volkswagen Group UK Managing Director, Alex Smith, added: “Marcus’s expertise and wide-ranging experience will prove invaluable as Seat and Cupra readies itself for a new era.

“I would like to thank Richard for leading the Seat and Cupra team over the past eight years.

“His energy, creativity and undefeatable attitude have been key to the brands’ success.”
