The Department for Transport has recommended that the current 3-1-1 frequency for MoT tests is appropriate, and should be maintained following the publication of its MoT Scheme evidence base report.

Stephen Coles, head of MoT operations for the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF), said: “The Government’s own recommendation that the frequency of the MoT test should not be reduced is very welcome news, and a clear indication that the concerns of the MoT sector have been heeded.”

Coles said the announcement from the DfT should “close the chapter” on the proposed move to a 4-2-2 testing schedule for the MoT test.
