Carwow has launched a free scrappage scheme checker after no fewer than 17 car manufacturers launched incentive schemes.

Drivers enter their registration number to receive information about which schemes their car is eligible for, and can then be directed to the full information on each scheme via Carwow’s support guides.

Data released by the site has revealed that some brands have seen a spike in interest of as much as 75% since their schemes were announced.

This has resulted in the week of August 28 to September 3 being Carwow’s busiest ever, with onsite guides hosted on Carwow up by 75%.

The data also shows that for the five days following a scrappage announcement, configurations for leading brands have spiked by an overall average of 28%.

Drivers keen to check out the latest scrappage offers has led to the largest jump in searches on the Carwow site over the past month for Volkswagen (75% up), followed by Ford (70%), Skoda (44%) Toyota (39%), Hyundai (33%), Seat (31%) and Audi (26%).

Carwow’s chief executive and founder James Hind (pictured) said: “The scrappage schemes introduced by the industry have been overwhelmingly positive in providing much needed support to buyers looking to trade-up to a cleaner car.

“Motorists need help to switch and now they have a wide range of options to consider.

“However, with so many schemes introduced in a short space of time, it can be confusing.

“We know that the interest is out there and are trying to help car owners navigate their way to the best deal quicker and easier than before.”
