BCA has announced a new fortnightly programme of online Top Car sales following successful events staged in May and earlier this month (June).

The premium and luxury car sales are staged entirely online, with buyers logging in safely via BCA Online or the BCA Buyer app to compete for stock.

Further online Top Car sales from BCA are scheduled on successive Thursdays from June 25 onwards, with vehicles being consigned for sale as far ahead as July 9 and 23. All Top Car sales start at 1pm.

BCA announced the introduction of online only sales on March 25, initially selling exclusively via the fixed price BCA Buy Now platform, before introducing a programme of Virtual Online Sales through BCA Online and the BCA Buyer app during April.

Stuart Pearson, chief operating officer for UK remarketing at BCA, said: “The Top Car Sale is a unique event in the remarketing calendar and, with growing interest from buyers and sellers, we’re very pleased to be able to launch this additional regular sale.

“BCA continues to keep the motor industry moving with the widest choice of stock in the wholesale marketplace, available through a variety of online channels that support all buying preferences.”

Earlier this month, the BCA claimed that used car values had "steadily risen" during the COVID-19 lockdown period, which prevented the majority of UK car retailers from trading.

Entry into BCA's upcoming Top Car sales events has been confirmed from specialist sellers of prestige, performance and luxury vehicles including Porsche Financial Services, Bentley Financial Services, UKcgr, BCA Outsourced Solutions and Alphera.

There will also be stock entered from fleet, finance and dealer vendors, all typically valued in excess of £25,000 with a comprehensive service history and warranted mileage. Vehicles on offer include Lamborghini, McLaren, Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Porsche, Tesla and Volvo models.

BCA says the first two Top Car sales generated significant interest among BCA’s professional buyer base, with nearly 1,200 buyers participating in each sale.

The average selling price peaked at just under £38,000 across the two sales and strong sellers included a 2018-registered Lamborghini Aventador for £193,000 and an 18/18 Lamborghini Huracan for £143,000, with a 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT63S realising £95,000.

Pearson said: “Currently all sales remain online only, and we will notify our customers when we feel it’s safe to start holding physical auctions again.

"We’re keeping close to the latest government guidance in order to protect our people, customers and suppliers. We’ll look to restart physical auctions when appropriate.”
