JCT600 has closed the doors of its Vauxhall franchise in Shipley for the final time as it reduces its representation with the PSA Group brand to two sites.

The dealership, off Salts Mill Road, Shipley, was officially close on November 30, with all-but one employee of the facility making the move to other roles within the Bradford-based AM100 car retail group.

A spokesperson for JCT600 told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus newspaper that the move had come as a direct result of Vauxhall’s restructuring its franchised retail network, confirming: “Our Vauxhall dealership in Shipley will cease trading on 30 November with all but one colleague previously based there relocating to our Bradford, Menston and Rawdon businesses."

The newspaper reported that the closure of the site had come just a month after the group ended its long-term relationship with the BMW franchise with an end to new vehicle sales from its BMW dealership in Bradford.

It noted, however, that JCT600 had added the Jaguar and Land Rover brands to its dealership portfolio in July.

JCT600 has added Jaguar and Land Rover to its franchised portfolio of premium car brands with the acquisition of two dealerships in Doncaster from Pendragon during the summer.

Two months later John Tordoff, chief executive of JCT600, was also able to confirm the establishment of Yorkshire’s first Roll-Royce Motor Cars franchise, in Leeds, during H2 2019.

Speaking to AM in the summer, Tordoff addressed the loss of the BMW franchise and said that discussions were ongoing with potential additions to the portfolio to “fill in the gaps” in the group’s portfolio.

Tordoff insisted trading from the BMW facility on Sticker Lane would not end abruptly.

“JCT600 will continue with a BMW aftersales operation and we’ll be selling used cars from the site,” he said.

“We own the land and the facility and we have the customer database for the area, so we’re in a very strong position from that point of view.”
