The Chrysler Group faces a business overhaul after losing €1.5 billion (£794m) in Q3. Parent company, DaimlerChrysler, has not ruled out the possibility of a sale.

Bodo Uebber, DaimlerChrysler's chief financial officer, said seven teams are examining all aspects of Chrysler's operations for ways to cut costs and boost revenue. He did not give a timetable, but said the overhaul could include structural changes, such as idling plants and cutting jobs.

Asked whether Chrysler could be sold or aligned with a partner, Uebber skirted the question, but would not rule out either action.

"First, we do our analysis. Second, we talk about measures. Then, we draw our conclusions," he said in a conference call from corporate headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany.

When pressed on whether Chrysler could be put up for sale, Uebber responded, "I don't do any speculation."
